Attitude & Lifestyle
Most healing meditation practitioners will counsel not merely a “magic pill” meditation practice, but instead a holistic practice that deals with the source of illness at a fundamental level. You may find articles on these and other supportive lifestyle changes throughout this site - simply click on the “Healing Tips” category to read some of the more recent ones.
Supportive lifestyle changes include, but are not limited to:
DietÂ
Organic, unprocessed, and all-natural foods, high in soy and colored vegetables, and low in meats, fats and sugars are most often recommended.
Sleep
Regular sleep hours, of at least 8 hours a night, helps as the body repairs itself primarily during sleep
Happiness
We have not only a happy brain, but a ‘happy’ liver, kidney, heart, and every other cell in our body, as they contain similar chemicals and are aware of the same stimulus
Time With Nature
Nature can help ‘realign’ oneself and one’s body to its natural, undistorted state. Pets and animals, similarly, have beneficial effect on humans and the pets alike.
Exercise
Morning exercise is an excellent habit - given as a treatment for most illnesses in Ayurveda.
Sunlight
Another old Ayurvedic healing treatment for most any disease also - get more sunlight.
Companionship
Provided that they do not cause more stress than they alleviate, be it with a pet, spouse, partner or close friends, those living with others are healthier than those living alone).
Purpose
A ’sense of purpose’, or reason to happily get up in the morning is found in most centarians, and supposedly an asset in healing.
Lack of Stress
Stresses produce hormones that are detrimental to most health conditions. Consider removing stresses wherever they occur - be they in your job, relationships, or lifestyle.
Spirituality
Amongst other things, this protects you from the stresses that you are unable to control.
Positivity about your condition
Ideally, this should arise spontaneously, however ‘faking it’ can help change attitudes, or welcome it when it does occur.
Shielding From Medical Negativity.
The ‘nocebo’, or negative placebo effect, is a real one scientifically verified. If you have a negative western doctor or specialist, try to find a positive one who is equally qualified and effective. You can read more about the nocebo effect here.
All of these, with a well informed and regular healing meditation practice, supported by healing meditation professionals, will serve you best in your recovery.
